The Last New Year's Eve

Overview

The Last New Year’s Eve is an animated short driven entirely by an AIGC pipeline. From the initial idea and script through storyboards, character sheets, generated motion, score and sound effects, I designed and ran a low-cost production workflow, then hand-corrected the generated material and finished editing, mixing, grading and compositing myself.

The film won Best Animated Short at the Rome Prisma Film Awards and was selected by the Seoul International AI Film Festival, the Spain AI Movie Awards and the Lift-Off Film Festival monthly selection. It is still being submitted to further festivals.

Pipeline

1. Idea and script — topic chosen from current conversations, then script and emotional arc.
2. Visual development — storyboard sketches, still references and character turnarounds generated to lock a consistent art direction.
3. Motion — image-to-video as the primary method with text-to-video as support, shot by shot, keeping the camera language consistent.
4. Sound — generated score and effects, re-laid against the edit.
5. Post — correcting artefacts from generated output, then editing, mixing, grading and comp.
